Tile and Grout Care

Ceramic tile and grout have quickly replaced vinyl tile in most new homes.  It is a very popular choice due to the wide variety of colours, styles, textures and ease of installation.  It is also inert which many people with allergies need.

There is also natural stone that is becoming more and more common.

On this page we will deal with ceramic tile and grout.

The largest issue facing people as the floor gets a few years older is that the grout simply gets stained and dirty.  Grout is pourous.  It soaks in a bit of water every time you clean your floor with a mop.  Each time you clean your floor it also soaks in a bit of dirt.  Now at first it is not noticable.  But over time the accumulation is such that your grout actually looks darker and on closer inspection, actually dirty.  Little bits of grease and grime have accumulated and now the grout looks stained.  (that is where we come in)

To care for your floors you should be using a neutral cleaner.  That is a cleaner with a PH of 7.  Simply Green is a good product to take care of your tile and grout.  It does a minimal amount of damage with little residue.  Make sure you dry the grout lines as quickly as possible.

When your grout gets dirty it is quite the job to fix.  We have the equipment and training in chemicals to ensure that we do the minimum amount of damage to the floor and get the grout back to where is should look.

We then can seal the floor to prevent the dirt from accumulating so quickly.  Sealing the grout will prevent this.  We can also colour seal the grout.  This process can give you room a whole new look.
